biography
Having a Dutch father and a Romanian mother, it didn’t surprise me at all that I was born in one of world’s melting pot and meeting point: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And although life, art and love brought me to distant places, for me Brazil has always been the place to be. As beauty has no frontiers, however, I’ve been living in other countries as well: Mexico, USA, Italy, China and, from 2003 onwards, The Netherlands. Our three children were born during this long journey.
Beauty, indeed, is the thing I love most. But not beauty for beauty’s sake alone. From a very young age I felt that real beauty couldn’t exist without interior harmony. I’ve always tried to express this feeling in my works: graphic design, photos, silkscreen, stained glass and acrylic sculptures. I think the glass assemblages I’m making the last few years are perfectly fitting this idea.
